Sabumnim Cortés – Head Instructor

Sabumnim Cortés leads DUMA with dedication, energy, and genuine care. Originally trained in Shotokan Karate, he began his journey in Choi Kwang Do nearly a decade ago alongside his youngest daughter. After returning to martial arts in his 40s, he knows first-hand that it’s never too late to start. A devoted family man, passionate about creating a safe, welcoming environment where students of all ages and entire families can train together and thrive.

His teaching style is firm but fair, blending structure with fun to ensure students not only learn effective self-defence skills but also grow in confidence and character. He encourages adults to embrace training and experience the many benefits it brings: greater confidence, discipline, fitness, and overall well-being.
