I started Choi kwang do to exercise and become healthier. My son was also already participating and it is something that we can do together, in class and practice at home. It instills core values and discipline, which is key for all ages.
I love Choi Kwang Do. I came to it during lock down in 2020. The focus on self defence and non-contact combat appealed to me. What keeps me going back to class is the balance of mental and physical activity. I find it engages me in a fun and constructive way, stimulating my mind whilst giving my body a work out at a pace that is good for me. I also love the camaraderie and support from the other students and instructors, the ethos is very inclusive and encouraging. Choi Kwang Do has a philosophy that I take into my everyday life and I love it.
I started Choi Kwang Do nearly 10 years ago to build confidence as a very shy little girl. Right from the beginning of my journey people kept saying to me that I had a natural talent for Martial Arts. Overtime, it has become a lot more than just physical training, it has helped me become the best version of myself, in and out of class. During COVID pandemic, we had to adapt to training online, which was a challenge but I stuck with it because it reminded me why I started in the 1st place. Choi Kwang Do continues to push me and inspires me to keep growing.
I’m really happy that my two sons practice Choi Kwang Do. It’s a true life skill, and one day they may need it to defend themselves in a difficult or unexpected situation. This martial art is fantastic for body development and excellent for self-defense.
